American Legion Post 228 is named for Army Captain Eli Lamar Whiteley
Captain Eli Lamar Whiteley was born December 10, 1913, in Georgetown, Texas. Captain Whiteley received the Congressional Medal of Honor for valor in World War II for his actions in Sigolsheim, France in 1944.
